Dead Space Ignition Announced
Dead Space 2 is set for release in January, 2011, so to make the wait easier, Visceral Games have decided to release Dead Space Ignition, this fall! This is a prequel to Dead Space 2, and shows the events leading to the Necromorph outbreak on "The Sprawl".
Dead Space Ignition is an interactive, comic-style game which is accessible to both Dead Space veterans and newcomers alike. The dark atmosphere of Dead Space won't be lost, and players have 3 unique hacking mini games to test their skills with during the game. Hardware Crack, Trace Route and System Override are their names, and each offers a very fun, but also challenging, arcade experience. It will be released on Xbox Live and the Playstation Network, and nothing has been mentioned about a PC version!
Those familiar with the "Choose your own adventure" type narration know what to expect from Dead Space Ignition, since it uses the same system and offers multiple ways of reaching the end of the game. 4 different endings can be reached, depending on what each player chooses during the game, and each ending gives the player a specific reward in the form of an unlockable item that can be used in Dead Space 2!
This is similar to the Dragon Age: Origins flash game that also offered unlockable items based on progress in the game, items that were not obtainable in any other way. Multiple playthroughs will be required to get all the items, but each one will offer an equally satisfying gaming experience.
Besides, no true Dead Space fan will want to miss out on important events such as those told in Dead Space Ignition! Knowing the entire story will allow players to get in the atmosphere of the game much easier, and enjoy it to the fullest!
